Membership

There are many dedicated Carers who look after members who visit the Centre. We  extend a warm welcome to them and hold occasional get togethers allowing them to network, share good practice and ideas and generally have a good chat!

The following list gives some contact names and addresses which may be useful to all using this website. As a Carer of a Centre member, carers are entitled to join in their own right & therefore take part in the social and therapeutic activities offered here.

Crossroads Care Agency can help with day to day care & emergency respite care  (Tel. 01273  234021) for those in the Brighton Hove & East Sussex areas or for West Sussex & parts of Hampshire (Tel. 01903 790270). In certain circumstances overnight live-in care can be provided.

Revitalise offers full respite care for people with varying degrees of disability. The one at Netley near Southampton has been used by members here who speak well of the care given and the interesting days out provided from the comfortable base there. The website gives full details of Netley & their other locations throughout the UK.

Carers Centre, 18 Bedford Pl, Hove BN1 2PT, (Tel. 01273-746222) provides family carers with emotional support, advice and a well-deserved break from their caring roles.

Brighton & Hove Buses have their “Helping Hand Scheme” - a series of cards which alert bus drivers to the needs of people with disabilities. The company also run another scheme which will arrange for a wheelchair user to have a taxi if the dedicated space on the bus is not available.
