Brighton Marathon Weekend 2nd April 2023
If you’re looking to take on a fun and relaxed marathon experience, or you missed out on a London Marathon place this year, this is the marathon for you! The Brighton Marathon is one of the most fun marathons in the running calendar. This is your opportunity to experience this once in a lifetime challenge whilst supporting Sussex MS Centre! Enjoy the beautiful sea views along the South Coast and take in the carnival atmosphere along the streets of Brighton as you complete the 26.2-mile route. If you think that is too far, you could always opt for the 10k!
Cross the finish line and celebrate with friends, family and your fellow runners and the amazing Beach Village – with a variety of food stalls, bars, and shops available. This is one Marathon weekend that you don’t want to miss! We have just 5 places, so sign up today to make sure you don’t miss out!

Oceans of Hope UK- Adventurous Sailing Challenges
Oceans of Hope are excited to be sailing in a new country under the Oceans of Hope flag with the support of the MS Society of Greece. They will have a week of exploring the Saronic Gulf and its fantastic islands.
Basic information about the event:

Carols in the Cafe
Join Eastbrook Primary Academy, Southwick in the Cafe area at Sussex MS Centre on Tuesday 13th December at 1.15pm
There will be carols, mince pies and a glass of mulled wine!

New Live Mindfulness Course
It’s not too late to take part in a free 6‐Week Mindfulness Live Course with Diane Stanton?!
We need more members to sign-up to run this course as we only have 4 people signed up to it at the moment. Please get in touch if you are interested!
It will take place on Wednesday 1st June 2-3.30pm (max 12 people). Following the success and popularity of Diane’s online Mindfulness courses, we are excited to offer this opportunity to members again. The course is both a wonderful introduction and a lovely refresher to the practices of Mindfulness, a simple practice that anyone can learn. There is absolutely no need to have an understanding of meditation to join this course. Everyone is very welcome!

Please be sure you can commit to all six weeks (or as much as possible) as the course is NOT drop‐in and places are limited. You do not have to be living with MS to join this course.
Live Classes and Therapies 2022
The following classes (some new, others already up-and-running) all take place live in our gym. We have a new class, Chair Aerobics with Lynne at 2.30pm on a Thursday

Unwanted New Gifts for sale!
Did you know that we have an unwanted new gifts table at the Centre?
All of us at some point have received a gift that didn’t meet our hopes. The jumper that doesn’t fit, something to which we are allergic… The list is endless, and however grateful we are for the thought, we are sometimes stuck with that unwanted present. So, what can you do with a gift you aren’t keen on, other than just hiding it away in your cupboard to gather dust?
Donate, of course! We will happily take your unwanted gifts and sell them here at the Centre. Please speak to EJ, Ali or Helen if you have any questions or need any more details

Spinnaker Tower Charity Abseil 17th September 2022
Will you go above and beyond for the Sussex MS Centre by signing up to an abseil from the Spinnaker tower in Portsmouth on Saturday
17th September?
With unmissable views across Portsmouth harbour, the Solent and the Isle of Wight, there is no better reason to experience life on the edge!
We are looking for brave people with acrophobia (fear of heights) to take part in this amazing adrenalin rush and take on a 100-metre descent down the side of Portsmouth’s iconic landmark, Spinnaker Tower. It will be fully supervised with safety gear provided and expert instructors to help you complete your challenge. There will also be Covid-safe measures in place.
The registration fee is £20, and we ask that you raise a minimum £250 in sponsorship. If you are interested or you know of someone that might be, please email [email protected] or ring and speak to Ali on 01273 594484.

Brighton Half Marathon 2023
Can you run for Sussex MS Centre? If so, we have 10 Charity places for the 2023 Brighton Half Marathon up for grabs!
This years race which took place on Sunday 27th February was such a huge success, with our 6 runners raising over £3,500. Next year we want to better that!!!
So, if you’d like the chance to take part in this fantastic run by the seaside or know anyone who might be up for the challenge, do please let us know! Whatever you manage to raise through sponsorship will be most gratefully received – and will contribute to the ongoing work of the Centre.
